1.0 Purpose:
To describe a procedure of operation and cleaning of Laminar Air Flow (LAF) cabinet workstation install in the microbiology laboratory.
2.0 Scope:
This procedure is applicable to
Laminar Air Flow cabinet which is installed in Microbiology Laboratory of Quality Control.

Procedure:
4.1
Cleaning procedure
4.1.1
Switch “ON” the visible light.
4.1.2
Clean the outer surface and working table of the LAF workstation
with a lint-free cloth moistened in
disinfectant 70% IPA solution from side glass, ceiling, and then the platform.
4.1.3
Clean the pre-filters
of laminar airflow once in a month with compressed air and record.
4.1.4
Spray inside of LAF
work station with 70% IPA and switch “OFF” light.
4.1.5
Switch “ON” the UV
light till to start the next operation or only for 15min.
4.2 Operation Procedure
4.2.1 Switch “ON” UV light and airflow half
an hour before starting the work.
4.2.2 Check the log record for burning hours
of UV light. It should not exceed more than 2000 hours.
4.2.3 Switch off the UV lamp before entering
in the LAF room.
4.2.4 Start the gas burner with the help of
gas lighter and carry out routine work.
4.2.5 Record the activity in the logbook.
