SOP FOR for cleaning and disinfection of Microbiology laboratory

 

1.0 Purpose:

To describe the procedure for cleaning and disinfection of Microbiology laboratory.

2.0 Scope:

This SOP is applicable for cleaning of Microbiology laboratory.

3.0 Responsibility:

3.1.    Microbiologist

3.2         Manger Quality Control

4.1      Disinfectant solution:

·        2% glutaraldehyde

·        70% isopropyl alcohol

·        0.5% sodium hypochlorite

·        Ethylene oxide

·        0.2 % peracetic acid

·        Quaternary ammonium compound

5.0      Procedure:

5.1         Ensure that the work is not in progress. Cleaning is carried out after completion of work activity.  

5.2     Using a lint free cloth soaked with 70% IPA start from doors, windows glasses, walls, incubator surface, Grills, external surfaces of equipment like ovens, autoclave, refrigerator, weighing balance, tables etc. Sweep the floor to remove the dust.

5.3.    Sweep the floor to remove the dust using non-shedding lint-freed mop.

5.4         Take tow buckets add purified water in one bucket and dilute disinfectant solution in another bucket.

5.5         Wipe the cleaned surface first with moping cloth wetted with purified water and then with dilute disinfectant,

5.6         Clean the drains sinks and wash basins with purified water daily once followed by flushing with disinfecting solution.

5.7         Empty the waste bins twice daily and clean the bins with water and disinfectant solution.

5.8         Remove the dust from ceiling, shelves, ducts, light, fixture, racks etc using vacuum cleaning solution

5.9         Wipe the floor with the floor cleaning solution.

5.10      Clean the garments and shoes cabinet present in the primary change over area daily using a clean dry cloth.

5.11      Clean all the surfaces, trolleys and SS trays daily with disinfectant.

5.12      Sprinkle the disinfectant on the floor and spread with sterile free mop pads.

5.13      Record the detail of cleaning in cleaning and sanitization of microbiology lab annexure no :-

6.0 frequency:

Daily Twice (beginning and at the end of work or whenever require)
